What is a portable air conditioner and how is it useful?

Cooling the home is very important, especially during the hot summer months. Home owners need to have an efficient cooling system in place to stay comfortable. Without a cooling system, a home can become too hot to bear, making everyone uncomfortable. Despite this need, many home owners do not have access to quality cooling nor is there money to install a new system. Some solution must be used to remain cool and a portable air conditioning system is the perfect go-between.

A portable air conditioner is a system that is more flexible then a window or wall unit. A portable system can be moved from room to room to keep coolness wherever you go. Portable systems are equipped with wheels and are very compact in size, usually around 2 to 3 feet in height. The system cools by collecting condensation via a bucket or redistribution via a hole in the system. Portable units can also recycle the condensation through the air.

This system must have access to the outside to be able to vent the hot air. With this unit, a hose that is small in diameter will be attached to the unit and then vented through an outdoor opening such as a window or sliding door. These units are affordable and easy to set up, providing a steady stream of cool and comfortable air.
There are several types of portable air conditioners available on the market today and each type will consist of different features. The type of unit you chose should be determined by the size of the room and BTUs needed. For example a room that is 20x30 would need to have a unit that offers 14,000 BTUs while a room that is 10x20 would need only 8,000 BTUs. It is very important that the size of the space is considered before purchase. Purchasing the right size will allow home owners to achieve maximum coolness.

Portable units can provide a number of services. From heat pump styles to dehumidify and remote controls. Home owners will find that a portable unit is very practical and a great option to cool a small space. If you find that you need to cool just one room or want to give your central system a break, this type of unit is perfect. These units start at around $200 and up and make a very affordable secondary cooling option.

This cooling system can basically work anywhere. One would have to have the option of venting the air to make it work. Homes, businesses, RVs, etc can benefit from this type of cooling system. These units must have electricity so anywhere that offers electrical outlets and venting capabilities, will benefit from this type of unit.
By using a portable system, you can provide cool air to a space and use very little energy in the process. Proper usage will provide you with a long-lasting system that will cool the space for years to come. Consider areas in your home for a new portable air conditioning installation.
