What is a portable air conditioner and how is it useful?

Cooling the home is very important, especially during the hot summer months. Home owners need to have an efficient cooling system in place to stay comfortable. Without a cooling system, a home can become too hot to bear, making everyone uncomfortable. Despite this need, many home owners do not have access to quality cooling nor is there money to install a new system. Some solution must be used to remain cool and a portable air conditioning system is the perfect go-between.

A portable air conditioner is a system that is more flexible then a window or wall unit. A portable system can be moved from room to room to keep coolness wherever you go. Portable systems are equipped with wheels and are very compact in size, usually around 2 to 3 feet in height. The system cools by collecting condensation via a bucket or redistribution via a hole in the system. Portable units can also recycle the condensation through the air.

This system must have access to the outside to be able to vent the hot air. With this unit, a hose that is small in diameter will be attached to the unit and then vented through an outdoor opening such as a window or sliding door. These units are affordable and easy to set up, providing a steady stream of cool and comfortable air.
There are several types of portable air conditioners available on the market today and each type will consist of different features. The type of unit you chose should be determined by the size of the room and BTUs needed. For example a room that is 20x30 would need to have a unit that offers 14,000 BTUs while a room that is 10x20 would need only 8,000 BTUs. It is very important that the size of the space is considered before purchase. Purchasing the right size will allow home owners to achieve maximum coolness.

Portable units can provide a number of services. From heat pump styles to dehumidify and remote controls. Home owners will find that a portable unit is very practical and a great option to cool a small space. If you find that you need to cool just one room or want to give your central system a break, this type of unit is perfect. These units start at around $200 and up and make a very affordable secondary cooling option.

This cooling system can basically work anywhere. One would have to have the option of venting the air to make it work. Homes, businesses, RVs, etc can benefit from this type of cooling system. These units must have electricity so anywhere that offers electrical outlets and venting capabilities, will benefit from this type of unit.
By using a portable system, you can provide cool air to a space and use very little energy in the process. Proper usage will provide you with a long-lasting system that will cool the space for years to come. Consider areas in your home for a new portable air conditioning installation.

Google Enters HVAC Market

Google is considered a giant in the internet industry and now the company is going to try their hand in the HVAC industry. It was announced last week that Google spent $3.2 billion in the acquisition of Nest Inc. The Nest Company is one that provided both thermostats and smoke/Co alarm manufacturing. The amount spent on the acquisition of Nest is the second largest for Google, just behind the 2012 acquisition of Motorola Mobility for $9.4 billion.

Larry Page, the Chief Executive Officer for Google, stated that Nest was already providing top quality products and Google would now have the opportunity to bring an improved experience to home owners and families around the globe.

Tony Fadell is the Chief Executive Officer of Nest and he will continue to work for the company under Google. Nest will be able to operate as normal as part of the acquisition. Fadell also commented on the recent deal by stating that the company will now be in a better position to create simple devices for household use that will make life easier in the home.

In the current market, remote access and controlled thermostats are a hot commodity. Nest has created quality items that are sought after in the HVAC industry. With Google becoming involved in the HVAC industry, the want for these types of devices are only going to continue to grow.

At $249, the thermostat created by Nest offers a self-programmable option that will help to cool and heat the home based on the preferences of the owner. Over time, the thermostat configures how the home owners use the settings to be able to self-program. Home owners will not have to manually adjust the temperature and home owners can also see their energy usage savings based on the green leaf symbol of the unit.

At $129, Nest creates the smoke alarm device known as Nest Protect. This device is highly sensitive and will light up and provide a speaking sound to help the home owner know the alarm is about to go off. This will help the home owner be able to turn the alarm off before a false alarm is sounded. The home owner simply uses their hand and waves it in front of the unit to stop it from going off.

Both of the Nest devices have the capability to operate via an applications so home owners can easily access their device and functions. The Nest Company plans on continuing to offer support for iOS, Android and other web browsers. The warranties for the products will also be valid.

This makes it easy to monitor while you are away from the office to stay in control of the unit. Contractors also use the apps as a way to showcase what new technology can provide. Contractors can easily show home and business owners have to use the app effectively.

Overall, an application can breathe new life into the comfort of the home. Home owners will find this option makes it easy to stay energy efficient as well as save money on monthly utility bills. As technology continues to advance, additional features are made available, making applications a perfect choice for comfort.
